Steve Morison expecting tough test from 'fighting' Hull City as Cardiff City look to spoil party

Steve Morison is expecting a tough test from Hull City despite the Tigers' home form and current league position. The Cardiff City boss has compared the challenge to the one they got from Reading last time out, as the Bluebirds came back from a goal down to win 2-1.

Lucas Joao gave the Royals the lead early on, before Alfie Doughty and Will Vaulks struck to turn the game on its head as the Bluebirds mathematically secured Championship survival. They currently sit 20 points above 22nd-place Barnsley, who have six games to play.

When asked about Shota Arveladze's side, Morison said: "A team that’s not mathematically safe. They are still fighting for their lives, like the Reading game, but they are all right, where they are in the league.

"They are going through a period. They have got new owners. They have brought a new manager in, results have been up and down but the last one against Middlesbrough was a great one. A lot of people there being Good Friday."

Morison also spoke about the job he is doing at the Bluebirds since his appointment back in October. The former striker has won 42% of his games in charge, having came out victorious 12 times from 28 matches.

He has managed to steer them from inside the relegation zone and up towards mid-table, which is some achievement considering the position they were in when he took over. He added: "It’s exciting! Normally you get a job in football, you take over a team in a bad place. That’s what we did.
