Steve Morison believes flashpoint turned the tide in Cardiff City's agonising loss to Huddersfield

Steve Morison believes a touchline flashpoint cajoled Huddersfield Town and their fans and proved the catalyst in Huddersfield Town's 2-1 win over Cardiff City.

The Bluebirds led through Tommy Doyle in the second half, but two goals in the final few minutes from Josh Koroma and Jon Russell consigned the visitors to an agonising defeat up at the John Smith's Stadium.

But with the game poised at 1-0, there was a contentious moment near the dugouts when Jordan Hugill caught Tom Lees with his arm while challenging for a ball in the air.

It sparked a coming together between Morison and one of Huddersfield's assistant coaches, who was trying to tell the referee to send Hugill off.

Lees had blood pouring from his face and that, combined with the touchline fracas, sent the home fans into something of a frenzy.

Despite a battling performance for almost the entire match, Morison believes that one moment played a big part in the outcome of the match.

"For 80 minutes it was a pretty perfect away performance, exactly what we had asked of the lads," Morison said.

"At the end of the first half, we should be going in winning, most probably. They had a lot of the ball and didn't really hurt us. We had all the chances and the place was getting really frustrated.

"Then we get the goal second half, which was a really good goal, but games change on moments. That little bit that happened with Tom Lees geared them up and got the fans right behind them.

"Once they got their goal... it was interesting, all the football they played, they got their goals from lumping two balls in the box. That's football."
