Steve Morison makes bold claim about exciting Cardiff City prospect

Steve Morison has shown a clear desire to integrate young players into the first team picture at Cardiff City this season.

The likes of Tom Sang, Isaak Davies, Joel Bagan and Sam Bowen have all made positive strides in their senior careers in that time.

However, Morison is purring about one prospect in particular who has been involved for the Bluebirds of late and that is 19-year-old midfielder Eli King.

Morison credited King’s conduct and professionalism and gave an insight into his plans for King’s future at the club when he spoke to WalesOnline.

He said: “He has had a few knocks, but he has really found himself in terms of his size, attributes and quality.

“He is an excellent kid, really nice and a top, top professional.

“You’ll often see it, everyone will leave and he will be in there picking up all the bottles.

“He is that type of kid.

“He makes sure the ground is tidy.

“He is a top-drawer pro.

“He has been involved because he deserves to be involved.

“If I am here, he will be fully a part of what we are doing next year.”

There is still a lot of uncertainty around Morison’s place in the dugout in South Wales, the general consensus is that he has performed admirably to pull the Bluebirds away from any relegation fears, but the owners could be looking for some more experience to ensure progression next season.

The Verdict

Looking at the current dynamic of the squad, it is going to take a serious amount of investment, which certainly does not seem forthcoming, to make Cardiff a play-off pushing team once again.

They have probably been a little fortunate to pull away from the drop with as much ease as they have, if there is not a lot of player turnover in the summer, lower mid table would be a successful 2022/23 season
