Steve Cooper fires first Nottingham Forest warning Sheffield United's way ahead of play-offs

Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper believes they have 'everything they need' to do well in the play-offs. The Welshman watched his side concede a last-gasp equaliser at Hull to see them drop to fourth and set-up a mouth-watering clash with Sheffield United.

It capped off a disappointing end to the season for Forest, who took the battle for second place with Bournemouth to the penultimate match but they have ended with just one point from their final two fixtures.

While he was unhappy with the way the visitors saw out the final few minutes at the MKM Stadium after scoring themselves late on, admitting they are a 'much better team' than what they showed on this occasion, he was keen to look at the bigger picture.

The fact that there was even a sniff of automatic promotion in the first place should give his players the confidence they need to attack the play-offs. And he has warned Sheffield United they will face a 'really good team' that is 'ready' for the challenge.

"On the day it's disappointing, but the bigger picture is that we're in the play-offs," he said afterwards. "There were some lads who just weren't fit enough to play today, so we haven't had to force them into another game.

"The league position and points tally is the highest it has been for a long time, we go into these play-offs in a really good place and we look forward to the games against Sheffield United. You look at the teams who haven't made the play-offs, it shows how good the lads have been.

"There's no doubt that there has been a brilliant effort from the players. To try and get automatic promotion with two games to go tells you how we've become a really good team.
