Steve Clarke adores Scotland fans buzzing about Germany as he lays out real reason why he refuses to look ahead

Steve Clarke is happy if the Tartan Army are happy but the Scotland boss isn't packing his bags for Germany just yet - urging his players 'don't get carried away.'

The Scots made it five wins from five with Scott McTominay, Ryan Porteous and John McGinn sealing a sparkling 3-0 success in Cyprus that put Euro 2024 within touching distance. One more win will be enough after a stunning start to qualifying but we won't even need that if Norway and Georgia play out a draw on Tuesday night.

'We're the famous Tartan Army and we're going to Germany' has been the terrace soundtrack to a superb qualifying run but Clarke, whose side sit on 15 points and way out in front in Group A, isn't letting himself plan for the tournament yet. He told Viaplay: "The table looks pretty nice. A big win for Spain tonight and we go there next, that'll be a tough game. I can't think too far ahead because you're asking me to predict results and what might happen in the future.

"I don't know, but what I do know is five wins from five is a pretty healthy position. I'll celebrate when we're there.

"The supporters can get carried away. That's what supporters are allowed to do, they're allowed to dream and think we're already there. We have to remain professional, we have to look to the next competitive game which is Spain away, but we also have to look to Tuesday. We have quite a nice friendly match against England, we have to be ready for that as well.

"It's not about getting carried away. It's about remaining professional and ensuring we continue to make the supporters happy.
