Steve Clarke adamant Scotland CAN upset Spain if 4 key factors click into place

Steve Clarke insists he goes into every game expecting to win and says the mouthwatering Group A clash with Spain is no different.

But the Scotland boss admits they'll need to catch their opponents on an off-night to continue their positive start to Euro 2024 qualifying. Scotland face Spain on Tuesday looking to build on their opening day success against Cyprus and take a big step towards another major tournament. The Spanish offer an obvious step up in quality and Clarke's team will need to be bang at it to stand any chance against a side who swept Norway aside on opening day in similar fashion to the Scots' victory over Cyprus.

Having lost just once in their last 17 home internationals though, Scotland are confident of making a game of it and Clarke fully believes they can - so long as they stay disciplined and organised. He said: "We want to be competitive against the top teams. We're trying to push the players to get better. The more you play against top opposition, the better you should get.

"We've shown in the past that we're capable of getting results against good teams. That's what we have to do again tomorrow night. I go into every game thinking I'm going to win, I've done that since I was 17. Every single game. We know we have to be disciplined, we know we have to be organised, we know we have to play very very well, and Spain have to slightly underperform a little bit, but if that happens we know we can get a positive result."
