Steve Bruce sends message to Preston North End amid Callum Robinson links

As Steve Bruce prepares for next season with West Brom, the boss is looking to put his own mark on the side in the hope that they can push towards promotion. 

This isn’t just in the form of player recruitment, but also looking at those who may be available to leave the club this summer too.

It was initially reported by The Athletic that Callum Robinson was one of the names that was available to leave the Hawthorns this summer.

In response to this Ryan Lowe, manager of Robinson’s former club Preston North End, said he would be interested in acquiring the player’s services if he was available on a free transfer this summer.

Bruce came back from this to say he was a fan of the 27-year-old but since the forward has missed his side’s last two pre-season games due to injury, it’s also causing more speculation surrounding his future.

However, the Baggies boss has sent a blunt message to Preston regarding any interest in the player as he said to Birmingham Live: “I keep hearing the rumblings but there is noting to really report on it.

“They can make as much noise as they want but what they have got to do is put their money where their mouth is.”

Robinson currently has three years left on his deal with Albion so the club are under no pressure to let him go this year.

The Verdict: 

It will be interesting to see how this one pans out over the next couple of weeks. Lowe admitted he would be interested in the player if he was available but since then, Bruce’s comments have made it seem as though he is still in favour at the Hawthorns and if that was to push his price up then Preston would perhaps withdraw that interest.
