Stephen Robinson dismisses Brann 'fair play' fury as St Mirren boss questions whether Norwegians should be FITTER

Stephen Robinson has questioned whether Brann should be FITTER as he shut down accusations of unsportsmanship that led to St Mirren's late equaliser

The Paisley club salvaged a 1-1 draw against Braan in the first leg of their Europa Conference League third qualifying round tie, meaning the sides will head to Norway all square next week. Toyosi Olusanya struck in the 90th minute to deny the Norwegians an away victory, but their staff were left enraged after Saints failed to return the ball from a throw in just before they scored.

Brann's goalkeeper Mathias Dyngeland put the ball out for a throw so a teammate could receive treatment. But rather than return possession, Saints played on from the throw and scrambled a late leveller. That sparked an angry reaction from the Brann bench as well as their players. But Robinson said there was still a minute for Brann to stop Saints scoring after the throw and that his players felt there was time wasting going on.

"To be fair I was sitting watching the Toyosi incident. I was on the bench watching the Toyosi incident. I asked the boys about it afterwards and they felt they [Brann] were time-wasting and they were going down with cramp. You could argue they are 16 games into their season and they are going down with cramp, maybe they have to be fitter, I don't know."

Pushed further, Robinson replied: "My response was the same as I just answered. I was sitting watching the Toyosi incident. I didn't see what led to it.

"I will say it was a minute after the throw that it happened. We didn't score directly from the throw. I asked the players and they said they refused to throw it back because they felt that the player was going down with cramp and it was time-wasting."
