Stephen Kingsley admits Hearts wonder goal was planned all along as 'wee chat' helps seal Scottish Cup final place

Stephen Kingsley admitted his wonder goal in Hearts' Scottish Cup semi final victory over Hibs was straight off the training ground.

Goals from Ellis Simms and Kingsley's thunder strike inside the opening 20 minutes were enough to set up a mouthwatering final clash against either Celtic or Rangers.

Hearts were not at their best for spells of the game despite Hibs being down to ten men after Joe Newell was dismissed for a second booking.

But Kingsley admits his stunning winning goal actually came from a pre planned move from the training ground.

He told BBC Scotland: "My goal was something we'd worked on, particularly on the other side with Barrie [McKay], but I knew I'd have a wee chance if it was on that side too.

"It was quite far out and Barrie got Liam Boyce in for a wee chat. We tried it and thankfully it went in."

Despite the win, Hearts were second best in spells of the game but Kingsley insists all that matters is getting through to the final.

"We're delighted", he added. "It was a tough game and we knew that would be the case after last weekend.

"To be fair, I don't think we played at our best but we got the two early goals and then our lapse in concentration to concede made it interesting.

"We got the win in the end and that's all that matters."
