Tottenham's Dejan Kulusevski SHOULD have been sent off

Former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas insists Dejan Kulusevski should have been sent off for violent conduct.

The Swedish international showed his frustration in their Premier League clash with Brighton & Hove Albion with an act of petulance when he thrust an elbow in the direction of Marc Cucurella in the 27th minute.

Match official Craig Pawson immediately awarded the January loan signing from Juventus a caution, but replays suggested Kulusevski was lucky not to have been given his marching orders.

Pundit Jenas was shocked to not see Pawson draw a red card from his pocket and feels Spurs are very lucky not to have gone down to 10 men.

'No, I think it’s a red card. I think he is attempting to use force, which comes under the ruling of violent conduct, he is trying to elbow Cucurella in his face,' 'Jenas told BT Sport.

'This is subjective to the referee and how he sees or reads it. The issue I had is i don’t know how he has not seen that as attempting to hurt somebody, which would come under the violent conduct rule, and be a straight red card. 

'I think Tottenham got away with one and Kulusevski got away with one, which is unfortunate for Brighton.

He added: 'If it’s a punch that missed, what’s the difference he is trying to hurt somebody and that is why it is a red card. It was missed by Lee Mason on VAR as well.'

Fellow pundit and former Brighton striker Glenn Murray was in agreement with Jenas as he described it as an 'incredible decision'.  

'It’s an incredible decision, it is 100% red card, there is no doubt in my mind.
