Stephanie Meadow inside top 10 at halfway stage

Stephanie Meadow is three shots off top following the second round of the Blue Bay LPGA in China.

Meadow had started with a solid 70 at Jian Lake Blue Bay GC and followed up with an even better 68 on a course playing difficult on Friday to move to six-under-par.

That leaves her three shots adrift of joint-leaders Narin An of South Korea and America's Sarah Schmelzel who are both on nine-under-par.

Meadow, who hit 14 greens in regulation, got off to the perfect start with a birdie at the first but handed that back at the par-four fifth for a level-par front nine.

FULL LEADERBOARD

Her back nine, however, was electric and despite another dropped shot at the 15th, she racked up five birdies coming in to leave the leaders within striking distance in what is just her second appearance of the season.

Round one leader Minjee Lee could only post a level-par 72 to slip the fourth, her scorecard peppered with four birdies and four bogeys.

It was An's day though as her 65 was the best score of the day with five straight birdies from the 1st to the fifth - her 10th to 14th holes - leaving her in great shape. Only one other player shot under 68 and that was Israel's Laetita Beck [67], a 14-shot improvement on her opening 81.
