Stash of drugs disguised as sweets uncovered in Audi after dramatic police helicopter chase

A stash of drugs and cash was uncovered in an Audi after a dramatic police helicopter chase.

Police on the ground first spotted the car in Salford last night (Monday). The driver failed to stop before officers pursued the car into Manchester city centre.

The police helicopter flew overhead to assist in the chase. The driver was arrested after the chase came to a stop in the city centre.

Officers searched the car and found a large stash of drugs. Pictures showed many of them were disguised in sweet wrappers with labels for 'TIZER', 'Rainbow Belts' and fizzy sours.

Found also found a 'significant quantity' of cash inside the Audi. A tweet posted by GMP Traffic in the early hours of this morning said: "Officers pursued a vehicle that failed to stop in Salford this evening, assisted by @NPASNorthWest. Driver arrested in the city centre, and a significant quantity of cash and drugs seized. #GMPSCIU #XT."

The National Police Air Service North West added: "Just one of the jobs the night crew have dealt with from NPAS Barton. Great teamwork!"
