Starving dog found tied to a lamppost 100 miles from home after being stolen in Manchester a year ago

A starving dog was found tied to a lamppost 100 miles from home after being stolen from Manchester. Dog walkers made the shocking discovery on Monday (August 7) and found the XL Bully tied up near Birmingham Airport.

The vulnerable canine, believed to have been snatched from its owners in Manchester a year ago, was spotted around 11.30pm in a dark alley near Birmingham Business Park in Solihull.

Shane Burnham, from Sheldon Dog Services Ltd, told BirminghamLive a concerned family contacted him after they spotted the distressed dog. He told how he arrived at the scene as the scared pup was 'barking and lunging out of fear'.

A post on the Sheldon Dog Services Facebook page amassed more than 1100 shares and reached some fifty thousand people. The status revealed the kind family stayed with the dog until help arrived.

The post read: "Just been called to a tied-up dog at the business park in Chelmsley [Wood] on the way to the airport. [He was] tied to a lamppost in the walkthrough.
