Stan Collymore in English Premier League fixture hint as he claims decision set to be left with clubs

Pundit Stan Collymore says Premier League clubs may be given the choice over whether to proceed with their weekend fixtures following the Queen's death.

English football bosses are set to convene at 11am for talks on whether the upcoming fixture should go ahead as planned or be postponed as a mark of respect. The long-reigning monarch's passing aged 96 was announced on Thursday evening and some sports, including golf, horse racing and cricket, have already called off events. But it's understood Richard Master will brief the Premier League's 20 clubs at a meeting on Friday morning.

The UK has entered a period of national mourning and decisions are set to be taken on sporting events scheduled for the coming days. The Irish FA have called off all football in Northern Ireland this weekend with the other home nations associations looking likely to follow suit. But former Liverpool star turned pundit Collymore claims Premier League sides are being briefed that the decision may be left up to individual clubs. He wrote on Twitter: "Advice regarding weekend football prior to meetings shortly and at 11am (Prem) is being briefed that individual clubs may choose whether to play or not over the weekend, or how they commemorate/celebrate/mourn"

A full Premier League card was scheduled for Saturday, Sunday and Monday, including Manchester City vs Tottenham, Arsenal vs Everton and Crystal Palace vs Manchester United. Scottish football chiefs are also holding discussions on a full weekend of action, with Friday night's Championship clash between Dundee and Cove Rangers being postponed by the clubs. It's expected games across the country will not go ahead as a mark of respect.
