St Mirren striker makes loan move to League One club

Airdrieonians boss Rhys McCabe says Lewis Jamieson's performance against his side last season for Clyde convinced him to bring the youngster to New Broomfield.

The 20-year-old has arrived on loan from parent club St Mirren and will go straight into the squad for Saturday's League One opener at Peterhead, subject to SFA approval.

Jamieson was on loan at Clyde last term and caught McCabe's eye when playing against the Diamonds three times last term, including scoring a fantastic volley in a 1-1 draw at New Broomfield in February.

And the Diamonds player-boss said: “We know of the quality Lewis has from playing against us last year.

“He adds yet more pace to our frontline, as well as plenty of skill and scoring ability, and we’re delighted to welcome him into the squad.”

Jamieson joined his new team-mates at training last night and told the club website his move had been weeks in the making.

He said: “The gaffer was speaking to me over the course of the summer, really keen on getting me in.

“I’m happy to come here and get game time, and hopefully do well. I’m hoping to get a good few goals to help the team!”

Jamieson has made two appearances for the St Mirren's first-team and had a loan spell at Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the first half of last season, scoring three goals.

He also came off the bench for Saints in a 1-0 defeat to Arbroath on July 9.
