Chelsea ‘keep pushing’ for ‘perfect’ £17.5m striker as ‘key intermediary’ spotted at club offices

Chelsea reportedly ‘keep pushing’ to sign former Arsenal hero Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after a ‘key intermediary’ was spotted in the Barcelona offices.

Rumours of Chelsea’s interest in the Gabon international emerged last week as Thomas Tuchel looks to continue to improve his options before the close of the transfer window.

The Blues’ focus is on defence as they target another centre-back following the arrival of Kalidou Koulibaly, and they’re reportedly locked in talks with Leicester over a fee for Wesley Fofana, who is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge.

But Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is looking to improve other areas of the squad, including the forward options following the departures of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner.

Raheem Sterling has already arrived and reports on Tuesday claim they’re also looking at Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha.

But a ‘proper striker’ would be nice and Spanish journalist Gerard Romero claims they ‘keep pushing’ for Aubameyang.

Romero took to Twitter to suggest talks are underway after he spotted Eugenio Botas, who was key in getting Aubameyang to Barcelona, at the offices of the La Liga giants.

The Catalans are thought to be keen on seeing the back of the 33-year-old as they need to make room for new signings and have seen Robert Lewandowski come in from Bayern Munich this summer.

Gus Poyet says his former club should jump at the chance to sign Aubameyang.
