St Johnstone WFC's comeback win against Kilmarnock was "massive result" and provides platform to build

St Johnstone WFC are planning to use their comeback delight to produce further moments of magic in the coming weeks.

The Perth team recovered from two goals down to defeat Scottish Women’s Premier League 2 high-flyers Kilmarnock at the Riverside last weekend.

The 4-2 win, which included a hat-trick for striker Morgan Steedman after the break, has provided a big boost following a slow start to the season.

Saints have moved up to sixth in the standings - above Boroughmuir - and within striking distance of those directly above them.

Now manager Jamie Reynolds is looking for the feel-good factor to continue into this weekend’s trip to face Stirling University.

Victory against the students will move Saints up another place in the table.

“We’re incredibly proud of the squad for the comeback on Sunday against a very good Kilmarnock side,” Reynolds said.

“It was a massive result for the entire group and they fully deserved it with the character and application they played with. They earned that victory from their efforts over the last two weeks and how they’ve approached the situation we found ourselves in.

“I’ve said it countless times, anyone can beat anyone in this league and the way you have success is by getting into a rhythm and playing with consistency.

“We need to use Sunday as a platform to build on now. We face Stirling next and it’s important that we continue to play with the urgency and the quality that we finished with against Kilmarnock.

“It will be a very different game as there are different styles of play but we will approach the fixture the same as any other, with a game plan to win the match.”
