Spurs latest news: Antonio Conte not afraid to walk away from Tottenham job

Transfer insider Dean Jones reckons that Antonio Conte won’t be afraid to quit Tottenham if the hierarchy don’t match his ambition.

Conte recently conducted an interview with the Italian media about his frustrations in regard to Spurs’ January business and clearly stated that his squad is now weaker on paper than at the beginning of last month.

Therefore, Jones thinks that if the Spurs boss doesn’t get his way this summer, he will walk away from the job, just like he did at Inter Milan at the end of last season.

Clearly frustrated with Tottenham’s overall activity, plus their poor run of recent form, Conte has told yet more home truths in an interview with Sky Sport Italia.

He stated that not only is the squad now weaker because the club sold four “important” players and were only able to bring in two, but he also expressed his frustrations about the lack of experienced incomings.

He said: “What happened in January was not easy. We lost four players in January. Four important players for Tottenham, and we brought in only two.

“So even just in terms of numbers, rather than reinforce the squad, we on paper weakened it. Bentancur and Kulusevski are ideal prospects for Tottenham, because Tottenham are seeking young players they can develop and grow, not players who are ready.

“That is the issue This is the vision and the philosophy of the club. It is inevitable that if you want to grow quicker and if you want to be competitive more rapidly, you need players with a lot of experience, because they also raise the experience level of the overall team.

“But I repeat, I have realised now that this is the vision of the club.”
