Spurs latest news: Antonio Conte and some senior Tottenham players disagree over Joe Rodon

Journalist Pete O’Rourke reckons that it’s clear Antonio Conte and some of Tottenham‘s senior players disagree over Joe Rodon.

The central defender has been continuously overlooked by Conte, although some of the senior players at the club have been urging him to get more minutes.

For whatever reason, the Spurs boss simply isn’t fond of Rodon. He didn’t exactly cover himself in glory in each of his starts under Conte, the games with Mura and Morecambe, but Tottenham generally struggled as a team on each of those occasions.

When Conte was quizzed in early December as to why Rodon wasn’t getting more chances, his response was that he was Eric Dier’s back-up at the heart of the back three.

However, Dier has missed seven of Spurs’ last eight games, and Rodon has started just once.

Having failed to play a single minute against Wolves, which came after the horror showing against Southampton, Football.London reported that some senior players at the club have been “pushing the claims” for Rodon to get more chances.

Therefore, O’Rourke has accepted that there’s clearly a disagreement between players and manager.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “It seems that Antonio Conte is not as favourable towards Rodon as some of the senior players in the Spurs camp are.

“But at the end of the day, the decision rests with the manager, not the players, so Conte obviously sees something different from what the players do.”

The likes of Japhet Tanganga and Davinson Sanchez have made costly mistakes and have been continuously picked.
