Donny van de Beek has impressed with his ‘work rate’ since joining Everton

Journalist Pete O’Rourke was impressed by Donny van de Beek’s ‘work rate’ following his temporary switch from Manchester United to Everton.

The 24-year-old joined the Toffees on a six-month loan deal in the January transfer window after struggling for opportunities under both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick at Old Trafford.

Van de Beek impressed throughout his first start for Everton in their much-need 3-0 victory of relegation-rivals Leeds United last time out.

Although the 19-cap international failed to score or provide an assist, his overall play was crucial to the Goodison Park outfit’s success, and he was named Man of the Match as a result.

As per WhoScored, the midfielder topped the charts for passes, making a total of 40, but he also achieved the highest passing accuracy (87.5%) amongst his teammates who picked out a colleague on over two occasions.

However, Van de Beek wasn’t afraid to do the defensive side of the game either, producing four tackles throughout the 90 minutes, the joint-highest tally alongside Anthony Gordon.

The creative talent’s fast start to life on Merseyside has already drawn praise from his new manager Frank Lampard, who lauded his ‘sharpness’ since arriving from United.

“On a professional level, since speaking to him, him coming and seeing him train, I am absolutely impressed with his fitness and his game sharpness,” said Lampard in a recent press conference.
