Spectres of Danel Sinani and Jordan Rhodes in Huddersfield Town talking points for Norwich City

No Championship side has allowed more shots per game against them than Huddersfield Town (17.3); Norwich City have allowed the third fewest (7.3). No Championship side has taken more shots per game than Norwich (15.3); Town have taken the second fewest (7.0).

That is what Danny Schofield was talking about when he said that the underlying stats suggest Norwich are a far better side than their position at the bottom of the embryonic league table. Town were much better last time out against Stoke than they had been in their first two league games, but they also came out on the right side of a few marginal moments.

If the Terriers’ luck runs dry here and Norwich get the good fortune they appear to be overdue, there is every chance the hosts will simply have too much for Town – which makes it all the more important that Schofield’s side continue to improve from what they did at the weekend.

As well as loads of shots, Norwich have loads of possession – as they have specialised in for a few years now. They are likely to be a lot tidier on the ball than Stoke were on Saturday, so disrupting their attempts to build their attacks is going to be a bigger challenge, but one Schofield and his side should relish.

Town’s higher and more intense press is one of the ways Schofield has tried to differentiate himself from Carlos Corberan, even after changing back to a more last-season-esque system at the weekend, and that proved especially effective against the Stoke back line after Duane Holmes came off the bench.
