Spanish GP talking points: Verstappen ready to spoil Alonso's homecoming

Formula 1 heads to Barcelona for what would have been the third instalment in the 2023 season's first triple-header.

With Imola falling away and Monaco effectively hosting the first European round this past weekend, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will add further spice to an impressive season.

Going into the race, several talking points must be addressed. More importantly, can Fernando Alonso give the crowd something to cheer about?

Alonso's home!

Heading to Spain, Verstappen is the man to beat. His car is far superior to the rest of the cars on the grid, and he seems to extract newfound performance from it at will, regardless of the circuit.

But can he win in Spain? And every race for the rest of the season?
