Bolton Wanderers' B team are in pre-season action once again this evening as they take on Southport.

Wanderers' B team had their first ever game earlier this month on the road against Atherton Collieries at the Skuna Stadium. The hosts won that encounter late on thanks to a late strike from a trialist.

Last week, the team turned out for the second time at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium against Bamber Bridge. Brig's Fin Sinclair-Smith handed the hosts a narrow 1-0 win while Conor Carty saw an effort come off the crossbar.

The B team squad is designed to bridge the gap between youth and first team football at the club and builds upon the reserves side set up last season. Recruitment has taken place over the summer, alongside that for the first team

And this evening is another opportunity to see Bolton's second string in action once again and play their third ever match. The young team is yet to score in its first two games, but Matt Craddock's team have had positive spells and signs in both encounters and will be aimingto build upon that further against the National League North side.
