Southern Counties East round-up: Faversham Town win at Erith Town, leaders Glebe held at home, Deal Town win at Sutton Athletic

Faversham Town tightened their grip on a Premier Division play-off place after scoring a late winner at Erith Town on Saturday.

An entertaining game at Bayliss Avenue saw Billy Bennett give Faversham a first-half lead.

James Dyer levelled the scores straight after the break but Billy Bingham put the visitors back in front before Harry Taylor made it 2-2.

However, Faversham had the last word when Jake McIntyre scored the winner on 90 minutes.

Deal are now just six points off top spot after continuing their impressive away record with a 2-1 success at Sutton Athletic.

It’s now 12 wins and three draws from 16 away games for Steve King’s men, who led through Aaron Millbank’s goal on the stroke of half-time.

David Emmanuel put Sutton level early in the second half but Jack Penny scored a penalty with three minutes left for the visitors.

Leaders Glebe were held to a 1-1 draw at home by bottom side Welling Town, Ali Fofanah’s 90th-minute spot-kick cancelling out a first-half opener for the visitors.

Punjab United remain well placed for a play-off push with games in hand, after winning 2-0 at home to Corinthian.

Steve Ratcliff put them ahead on two minutes before veteran striker Paul Vines made sure of the points late on.

A crowd of 479 at The Belmont saw Whitstable hold to a goalless draw by Tunbridge Wells while first-half strikes by Jack Nelson and Francis Babalola handed Snodland a 2-0 victory at Rusthall.

A last-gasp Ryan Smith winner saw Lydd edge out Stansfeld 3-2. Luke Burdon struck twice for the home side while Tommy Whitnell and Sam Jeal replied for Stansfeld.

VCD moved up to 13th place following a 4-2 win at Lordswood, who led through David Chandler’s first-half goal.
