Southern Counties East Premier Division club Canterbury City announce new-look board

Outgoing Canterbury City chairman Tim Clark is backing the club’s new-look board to finally deliver on getting a new ground in the city.

Clark has been replaced by businessman Trevor James - who it has been revealed donated financially to the club last season - as chairman after Clark spent 13 years on City’s board, 12 of which came as chairman.

Also stepping down from their roles are treasurer Keith Vaughan and director Keith Longley.

They have been replaced on the City board by club secretary Richie Moore, first-team manager Keith Bird and Kerry Barnham who joined the board as commercial director.

Clark told the City website in Sunday's statement: "The club is in safe hands with Trevor James, Keith Bird, Richie Moore and Kerry Barnham, who have the drive and talent to push the club forward.

“I feel they are the best people to develop the club and both myself and Keith Vaughan really do wish the new board and the club all the very best and a successful future.

“It has been an honour to serve as chairman and my only regret is that the club was not able to secure the planning permission for their own stadium and a return to the city they represent during my tenure.

“I am sure that this is an injustice that the new board will resolve.”

City, who play in the Southern Counties East League (SCEFL) Premier Division, have not played in Canterbury since 1999.

Canterbury had been playing at Faversham but they will instead ground-share with their Isthmian South East rivals Sittingbourne from the 2022/23 season.
