South Manchester restaurant unveils huge chippy tea platter that's made for sharing with giant battered fish and mushy pea tacos

A south Manchester restaurant serving up north American comfort food has decided to take a bit of inspiration from the north of England with the arrival of a new chippy-inspired sharing platter that is a feast for the senses.

Following the successful launch of its Mates Dates sharing platters, Brewski Bar Chorlton has unveiled a Batter Platter, which is filled to the brim - quite literally - with everything you could possibly ever want from a chippy tea.

For £55 (which works out at around £13.75 each if you’re sharing between four), the platter is loaded with a battered sausage, a giant battered haddock, chippy barms, mushy peas, suet pudding and even some scrap tacos for good measure.

But, of course, this isn’t just any chippy tea. The battered sausage comes covered in bacon bits and served with chipotle sour cream, the suet pudding is made from beef shin and nduja sausage, and the chip butties are packed full of buffalo chicken poutine. The tacos feature mushy peas and scrap batter bits, and there’s even a katsu curry fondue for you to dip your chips in.

The venue, on Wilbraham Road, will serve the special platter every Tuesday and is already expecting big demand from diners eager to give it a go. Posting on Instagram, Brewski Cholton wrote: “Chippy Tuesdays launches at all Brewski’s, with the world's greatest batter platter. Limited availability please use the pre booking option.”

In another post, the restaurant, which also has venues in Sheffield and Chester, added: “Introducing chippy Tuesdays - Every Tuesday from Feb 20th. The inaugural batter platter consists of Katsu fondue, 2 x buffalo chicken poutine chip butties, mushy pea and scrap tacos
