Sources: Leeds and Orta may agree fee for 'quality' target 'this week' after Phil Hay's reveal

Leeds United could agree a fee with Aberdeen for defender Calvin Ramsay this week, according to Alan Nixon.

Phil Hay shared news of Leeds’ interest in Ramsay on Saturday following a record attendance at Elland Road for the under-23s’ clash with Manchester City on Friday.

The Leeds correspondent said that the club are tracking the 18-year-old, who was labelled ‘quality’ by Paul Robinson, ahead of the summer transfer window.

It is thought that Ramsay, who has made 38 senior appearances for Aberdeen, would ‘not take long to move into first-team contention’, and it looks as if a development could materialise over the coming days.

Nixon shared an update regarding Ramsay on his Patreon profile on Sunday [24 April, 8:11 am] which was relayed by MOT Leeds News. The reliable reporter said that Leeds will battle Liverpool for the right-back’s services, with insiders believing that a fee could be agreed ‘this week’.

Nixon shared information from ‘sources close to the player’, who ‘expect him to be allowed to talk to both clubs to discuss their plans before taking his pick’.

The Whites could be looking to persuade Ramsay over a move to Elland Road instead of Anfield, and you’d like to think they’ll have a real chance of securing the youngster’s services.

Leeds haven’t been afraid to use a number of young players in the Premier League this season, something which could appeal to Ramsay.

The Whites have handed top-flight debuts to eight teenagers in 2021/22, a record in the Premier League. Ramsay could well be the next to join that list, and who knows, he could become the first signing of the Jesse Marsch era.
