Sourav Ganguly's No-Nonsense Message To KL Rahul Amid T20 WC Selection Talks

Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul is having a decent campaign at the ongoing IPL. In 8 matches, the wicketkeeper-batter has scored 302 at a strike rate of 141.12. His tally also includes two half-centuries and in the upcoming clash against Chennai Super Kings, he will be eager to deliver another big knock. Apart from IPL, Rahul is fighting for the wicketkeeper's spot in India's squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States and West Indies.

Recently, Delhi Capitals Director of Cricket, Sourav Ganguly, revealed the conversation he had with Rahul during the T20 World Cup 2022 and also gave a piece of advice to him.

"For India, the most important thing in T20 cricket and I said that to Rahul in Australia (T20 World Cup) also, just play without fear. Just go and hit. There is long batting. You can always control if you lose wickets, but just go and hit," Ganguly said during a media interaction organised by DC.

In the previous IPL 2024 match between LSG and CSK, Rahul played a brilliant knock of 82 off 53 balls and took his side to victory by eight wickets. As CSK and LSG locked horns again on Tuesday, Rahul could only score 14-ball 16.

"The other day I saw him play an innings against Chennai, which Lucknow won, I thought he was exceptional. He played well at the top of the order and did exactly what was required to do at that moment. As I said, it's about playing freely and playing without fear. That is a must in T20 cricket," Ganguly said.
