"Somebody, somewhere knows something": The mystery of a 'happy-go-lucky' 22-year-old woman who suddenly disappeared

The parents of a missing woman have described their lives as a 'groundhog day' of grief two years on from her sudden disappearance.

Catrin Maguire, then aged 22 and a university student, had no known mental health issues and had spoken about exciting plans for her future before she went missing on Anglesey, Wales. She disappeared on Monday, November 15, 2021 - reportedly last seen at 1.18pm walking by the RSPB South Stack cafe, a popular tourist attraction.

Today her parents, Gerry and Wendy, have revealed she was dealing with something that had 'scared the hell' out of her at the time. It stemmed from what her parents describe – based on conversations with her daughter and witnesses – as a 'vicious verbal assault'. They believe it was the trigger for their beloved Catrin going missing.

North Wales Police's handling of both the missing person investigation and the previous incident has left the family feeling badly let down. And a damning internal report by the force has described its performance in six parts of those investigations as 'unacceptable'.

Issuing a fresh appeal today, Catrin's parents have revealed for the first time the circumstances they believe sparked their daughter's disappearance. Gerry and Wendy believe Catrin is still alive - and are desperate for anyone with answers to come forward.
