Soccer AM set to return with new name as star confirms comeback plans

Fans of the iconic weekend football show Soccer AM can look forward to its return - with James 'Rocket' Long hinting at a major comeback for the program.

Soccer AM, which debuted on TV screens in August 1994 and combined football and comedy for an impressive 29-year run before its axing following the 2022/23 Premier League season, became a staple of Saturday morning television. The show saw a host of well-known presenters such as Helen Chamberlain, Tim Lovejoy, Max Rushden, John Fendley and Jimmy Bullard bring their own unique take on the week's football events as well as interviewing celebrity guests.

Comedic talents like James 'Rocket' Long, Peter 'Tubes' Dale and Adam Smith (also known as Frankie Fryer) were instrumental in creating memorable sketches and segments that resonated with fans of the beautiful game. Despite the absence of fan favourite features like 'Taxi', 'Showboat', 'Soccer AM Pro AM', or 'You Know The Drill' since the show's cancellation, 'Rocket' has revealed plans to revive the beloved format under a new guise.
