Snake Pass closed after 'serious collision' with reports of air ambulance on scene

Snake Pass is closed following a 'serious collision'. Witnesses reported a huge emergency services presence following the crash close to the summit of the notorious road above Glossop.

One motorist said a car had come off the road and gone down a 'ravine'. Drivers are being advised to avoid the area, with the closure expected to last for a number of hours.

A Derbyshire Police spokesperson said: "The A57 Snake Pass is currently closed in both directions between Hurst Road (Royal Oak Inn) and the Snake Pass summit due to reports of a serious collision.

"Emergency services are currently at the scene Traffic between Glossop and Ladybower is affected, and motorists should avoid the area, find alternative routes and allow extra time for any journeys."
