Smiling Sam Lammers opens door for Rangers to spring Man Utd surprise as THAT goal gets fans saying 'they must be p***'

Sam Lammers was the hero for Twente at Old Trafford last night - and Rangers fans think if HE can do it, there's no reason they can't in January.

Striker Lammers is viewed by many at Ibrox as the face of the Michael Beale era for all the wrong reasons after he cost them £3.5m but was a flop in Scotland. He lasted just six months before he was loaned back to Utrecht, a spell where he rediscovered his form and earned a permanent move to Twente in the summer.

He's started the season well at his new club with four goals in nine games - one of which coming against Manchester United away from home in the Europa League. Rangers fans couldn't believe their eyes when the man who could barely hit a barn door with a baseball bat during his time in Glasgow nicked the ball off Christian Eriksen and left the Theatre of Dreams stunned to earn a 1-1 draw.

Philippe Clement's team of course travel to face United in January in their penultimate league phase fixture. That's a long way away, but if Lammers can do it, Rangers fans see no reason they can't too.

One fan wrote on X: "Sam Lammers scoring at Old Trafford… Jesus f****** Christ. Not only is the game well and truly gone, but now Rangers really need to go there and do something," and another said: "You know how p*** Man United are when Sam Lammers is scoring into them."

Speaking after the game, a visibly buzzing Lammers said it could have been even better for his team. He missed a great chance to open the scoring early on before redeeming himself with a late equaliser, and said: "We could have won. Last 10 minutes, it was a little bit tricky, we had to stay back and defend the goal. There were definitely chances to take the three points, but we are very pleased with one point.
