Sleepy Luke Humphries moves into Masters semis - then heads straight back to his bed to dream of glory

Dozy Luke Humphries is off back to bed for a sleep and dreaming of World Masters Darts glory.

Cool Hand hit the stage first in the quarter-finals and dismissed Damon Heta to move into the last four. Humphries was done before 2pm and with five hours until his semi-final, the World No.1 was heading back to his digs to hit the hay for an afternoon kip.

He said: “In that sense, it has almost worked out perfectly. I can go for a nice sleep. Sometimes when I get those sleeps, I feel way better. It’s another session tonight and, hopefully, I can perform like that again. I’m going back for a sleep and whoever I play next, it’s going to be a tough one.

“I really felt good there. I’ve slowed down my throws a little and I’ve seen it work. Tonight, when I come back, I’ll keep it. Sometimes, I’ll throw too quick. I think it affects my rhythm. I’m very aware there’s a lot to go, but if I continue like that, it’s going to be very nice.”

Humphries has been low-key this week as he’s sauntered through and looks primed to peak at just the right time on Sunday night. He said: “I’m not worried about laying down markers or sending out messages. I’m just here to enjoy myself and win as much as I can.”
