Sky Sports golf anchor takes cheeky swipe at Tartan Army as Ludvig Aberg leaves Scotland fans 'unhappy'

Sky Sports broadcaster Nick Dougherty took a cheeky dig at the Scotland fans supporting anyone but England - telling Ludvig Aberg he has 'taste' for standing up to them and predicting a Three Lions win.

Aberg aligned himself with the Auld Enemy when he predicted England would beat Spain in the final of Euro 2024, in front of a Scottish crowd with more than a few temporary Spain supporters. Aberg leads Scot Bob MacIntyre by two in the Scottish Open which concludes on Sunday, shortly before the Euro showpiece gets started in Berlin.

As part of a TV segment, golfers were asked to mark on a whiteboard who they thought were going to win. And Aberg, a Liverpool and England fan despite being Swedish, nailed his colours to the mast by backing Gareth Southgate's team.

A Scottish punter then had a playful pop at his decision, before Doughterty took exception in the studio. Since Steve Clarke's team were eliminated, many Scottish fans have been cheering on anyone but England – Slovakia, Switzerland and then the Netherlands, all of whom have been downed by Gareth Southgate's team on the way to the final.

Tonight it's Spain with the Tartan backing. And Dougherty said: "Ludvig has taste. The Scots weren't necessarily all that happy there. They were brave to do that but at the same time, they're on to their fourth team for supporting, aren't they?"
