Sittingbourne sign striker Chaynie Burgin and midfielder Rohdell Gordon as manager Ryan Maxwell continues summer rebuild
Sittingbourne have made a significant double signing towards next season’s Isthmian South East promotion bid.
The Brickies have brought striker Chaynie Burgin back for a second spell at Woodstock and have also landed ex-Football League midfielder Rohdell Gordon.
Burgin was one of Maxwell’s first signings after taking over as Brickies boss in January 2023.
Indeed, he opened the scoring in Maxwell’s first win, a 2-0 success at VCD Athletic.
The big forward had a spell at Potters Bar last season.
“The very best of Chaynie is certainly yet to come,” said the manager. “We’ve huge faith in him.
“He’s 6ft5in, he can head it, he can run, he can hold the ball, he’s got good feet, he scores goals and brings people into play.
“I can’t wait to work with him for a full season, including pre-season. I’m absolutely delighted he’s on board.
“I think he’ll bring so much to the team.”
Former Stevenage man Gordon played under Maxwell at Braintree in National League South.
He was with Bowers & Pitsea and Hendon last season.
“Rohdell can play numerous positions,” said Maxwell.
“He’s played League 1 and League 2 for Stevenage, he’s played lots of games in the Conference South.
“He’s a player who’s got experience, he was captain last year and he’s coming to us because he wants to compete for a top spot.
“He’s really good on the ball, gets around the pitch, he’s a good athlete, makes good decisions and is another great character.”
Sittingbourne, who also signed striker Harvey Smith from Whitstable last week, begin pre-season training this Saturday.
