Faversham Town manager Tommy Warrilow likely to get wind of players becoming available from members of his Lilywhites squad

Faversham Town manager Tommy Warrilow will be ready to pounce on any gems who become available - with a helping hand from his Lilywhites squad.

Warrilow is open to adding a couple more new faces to his ranks for Town’s first season back in Isthmian South East and in these situations, who knows who is vital.

Players currently trying their luck at higher levels will inevitably become available as pre-season wears on - and Faversham could be willing takers as word spreads.

“There will be a fall-out of players during pre-season, for one reason or another, and I want to be in the position to act on that rather than just getting somebody in for the sake of it,” said Warrilow.

“It’ll be interesting to see what happens with some of the clubs because there’s a lot of players out there that are still trying to play at a higher level and trying to get the right deal.

“Sometimes that doesn’t happen and if it doesn’t then we want to be in a position to act on it.

“We know players we like and want to get in but I think any manager at non-league level would be lying if they said they don’t lean on the players in the squad.

“The amount of times you hear ‘my mate’s not happy here’, ‘my mate would like to come here’, ‘my mate’s this’ or ‘my mate’s that’.

“You can’t turn round as a manager and say ‘I did this’, ‘I did that’, ‘I got him in’.

“We all know players but the majority of any signings at our level are through word of mouth.

“The key is they’ve got to be better than what we’ve got.”
