Ratcliffe sends takeover message to Glazers

Sir Jim Ratcliffe said he will not pay a "stupid price" to buy Manchester United from the Glazer family, having met club chiefs for takeover discussions last week.

The INEOS founder and chairman visited Old Trafford as well as United's training ground on Friday, the day after Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani's delegates also spent the day in Manchester for talks.

Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim both submitted bids to buy United in February and the process of a possible sale of the Premier League giants has since moved into its next phase.

Van de Beek provides update on knee injury

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has shared an encouraging update on his rehabilitation from a serious knee injury which has ruled him out for the rest of the season.

The Netherlands international, who has struggled to live up to expectations since joining United from Dutch giants Ajax in September 2020, suffered the blow during the first half of the Reds' 3-0 win over Bournemouth at Old Trafford on January 3.

Van de Beek's leg buckled under a challenge from Cherries defender Marcos Senesi.
