Morgan Schneiderlin offers Sir Jim Ratcliffe insight amid Manchester United takeover bid

Former Manchester United player Morgan Schneiderlin has claimed Sir Jim Ratcliffe is "so nice and good" as the British billionaire aims to become the Reds' new owner.

Ratcliffe and Ineos submitted a revised bid for United last week after they were granted an extension beyond the initial deadline. It came after the 70-year-old tabled a first offer thought to be in the region of £4billion.

It is widely reported that the Glazer family would want a record £6bn for the club if they decide to sell, with Ratcliffe competing with Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani and other interested parties.

A statement from an Ineos spokesperson read: "Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos can confirm we have submitted a revised bid."

Ratcliffe has owned OGC Nice since August 2019. During that period, former United midfielder Schneiderlin joined the club from Everton. The Frenchman, who is currently on loan in Australia, has made 59 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit, and was full of praise for the owner when asked about his interest in the Reds.

"His [Sir Jim Ratcliffe] brother was very involved in the club in my first season but then took a step back," Schneiderlin told the Daily Mail. "But when we saw Jim Ratcliffe, he was a gentleman. You don't think he's a billionaire. He is so normal, so nice and good.

"He came a few times to speak to us, especially last year before the final of the French Cup. It was clear he wanted the best for Nice. I know he is a Manchester United fan, so we will see what happens."
