Sir Jim Ratcliffe 'preparing restructured bid' amid Manchester United takeover proposal

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is preparing a "restructured" offer to speed up the takeover process at Manchester United.

That's according to reports from Bloomberg as the saga continues to rumble on 10 months after the Glazer family announced a "strategic review" of their ownership. As things stand, there has been no proper breakthrough as the Americans continue to mull over formal approaches from two main bidders.

Proposals headed up by Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe - via his INEOS company - have yet to be accepted by the Glazer family. It's understood current offers are worth over £5billion.

However, there are differences when it comes to the structure of those bids and the Americans are, also, thought to want closer to £6billion for their shares. Supporters continue to await concrete updates, but the whole process has been drawn out since November last year.

British billionaire Sir Jim shared a fresh update on his takeover proposal in a rare interview this month. The 70-year-old told INEOS.TV: "The Manchester United bid would have been unthinkable two or three years ago if we hadn't had some of the experiences - some quite difficult experiences with Lausanne and Nice."
