Sir Jim Ratcliffe net worth rockets ahead of first Manchester United transfer window

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has spent the first two-and-a-half months at Manchester United making changes off the pitch with things at Old Trafford set to look slightly different by the time the 2024/25 season starts.

On Christmas Eve, the INEOS founder announced that he would be acquiring a minority stake in the club. In February, the 71-year-old received the green light to become a minority owner of United.

Ratcliffe played a huge role in the appointment of Manchester City's CEO Omar Berrada before adding Sir Dave Brailsford and Jean-Claude Blanc as directors. Last month, Jason Wilcox was appointed as Technical Director as part of Ratcliffe's overhaul of the football department team.

The future of United boss Erik ten Hag is currently up in the air ahead of the summer after a run of inconsistency this season. There are also expected to be wholesale changes in the playing squad as the Reds look to return to the top of English football.

Fortunately for Ratcliffe and United, the English billionaire's fortunes have increased since he completed his 27.7% purchase of the club. On the day of the completion (February 21), Ratcliffe's net worth was at €18.3billion (£15.6bn) and that figure has fluctuated since.

After falling to €17.5bn (£14.9bn) later that month, his net worth went as high as €21.8bn (£18.6bn) in April. Fast forward a month and Ratcliffe is now worth €19.5bn (£16.6bn), according to the Bloomberg Index, meaning he has enjoyed a welcome £1bn rise in the value of his assets since.
