For all the chatter and speculation about Erik ten Hag and his Manchester United future, it is easy to forget the Premier League campaign is only seven games old.

There is no denying United's underwhelming start and improvements are required, but there are still another 93 points up for grabs and time for fortunes to be transformed. Despite being granted a stay of execution over this current international break, there is still an element of doubt surrounding Ten Hag's future. It is felt United's next block of games will make or break his chances of retaining his job.

Ten Hag, if he is to stay, will be under no illusion that results must improve, particularly in the league. United finished eighth last season and finishing inside the top four is this season's objective. For all of the Reds' current faults, they are only six points short of the final Champions League spot.
