Simon Jordan predicts Celtic 'monopoly' if Rangers don't act fast as he brands Alfredo Morelos 'part of the past'

Simon Jordan urged Rangers to stop Celtic's 'monopoly' and says the departure of Alfredo Morelos can make way for a 'new breed' of Ibrox star.

The outspoken pundit, who has been critical of goings on in Glasgow, believes that the Colombian's exit shows the forward is part of a Rangers past now gone. A changing of the guard is underway at Ibrox as it was announced veterans Allan McGregor and Scott Arfield would be joining Filip Helander, Ryan Kent and Morelos in departing the club this summer after long-held transfer sagas for the latter two.

Jordan proposed that it is always 'darkest before the dawn' for Michael Beale and co but says the enigmatic Morelos won't be majorly missed and that his replacement can 'actually understand' the Rangers plan to dismount Celtic from the top of the Scottish Premiership tree. He said on talkSPORT: “Morelos brought a lot of challenges, forever getting sent off when Steven Gerrard was there. Maybe it’s the change of the guard.

“Sometimes it’s always darkest before the dawn. Rangers need to come again and maybe Morelos now is part of the past and there needs to be a new breed of player who actually understands that Rangers’ job in this world is to continue, or to try to win leagues and to arrest what is beginning to become a monopoly again from Celtic.”
