'Shut up and get on with it!' - Tottenham boss Antonio Conte slammed by Craig Burley

Former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley has slammed Antonio Conte and urged the Tottenham boss to leave the north London club if he doesn’t want to be there.

The ex-Inter Milan manager was understandably elated when his side Spurs side beat reigning Premier League champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last weekend.

But just days later, after losing 1-0 to Burnley – Tottenham’s fourth loss from their last five games – Conte threw his future into doubt by suggesting he could leave the club.

The Italian manager then dialled back on his claims in a press conference on Friday, apologising for his outburst and reaffirming his commitment to Spurs.

But Burley thinks Conte is sending mixed signals and should ‘shut up and get on with it’.

‘He doesn’t know at the moment whether he’s having his dinner, or whether he’s having a haircut,’ Burley told ESPN FC.

‘I’m sorry, why doesn’t he just take his salary, shut up and get on with it.

‘Gobbledygook. One day it’s the greatest thing, then he’s running on the pitch after beating Man City, I get that. Then he’s like all doom and gloom again after losing to Burnley. Then he’s telling us he’s four players down who were really important to him, that never hardly played. Then he told us that the players that come in had literally no experience and one of them’s got almost 50 caps for Uruguay and the other is a Swedish international.

‘For God’s sake, man, make your mind up. If you don’t want to be there, just go.

‘If it’s not what you thought it was, maybe you’re waiting for a bigger pay-off, I don’t know what you’re waiting for. What, you’re going to wait for the summer and think Daniel Levy’s going to give you £300million? No, it’s not going to happen.
