Should there be a night tram?

Calls have been made for late night tram services that run into the early hours of the morning, with trams operating till 2am on weekdays on 4am on weekends.

A motion was made by Liberal Democrat councillors in Salford for the topic to be discussed at a city council meeting for the area yesterday, with a petition supporting it having garnered hundreds of signatures.

Following this recent development, we want to know if you would like to see Metrolink trams running until the early hours, or if you think the plan is flawed.

Let us know your thoughts in our comments section.

Ahead of the meeting, councillor Alex Warren said: "Having the option of a safe and regular journey home at night for workers and customers is sensible."

Some of our readers have already backed the idea, with one person saying: "This is well overdue! It's high time this-frankly, expensive tram system was run for the benefit of paying customers."

Another added: "Just bringing back the 1am trams would do instead of the ridiculous 11.30pm last trams at the weekend."
