ITV Corrie fans think they've rumbled tragic new storyline for Summer following baby news

Coronation Street fans think they might reaching for the tissues over Summer Spellman's latest life-changing storyline. The cobbles in Wednesday night's episode (October 19) were rocked by the news that the 18-year-old is pregnant.

After mystery swirled the cobbles over who was the owner of a positive pregnancy test - with the finger pointed at Daisy Midgeley and Carla Connor at first - it turned out that it belonged to the troubled teen. After her guardian Paul Foreman discovered the truth she told her boyfriend Aaron Sandford.

Aaron wrapped her into his arms as he apologised for her finding out alone after he recently dumped her. Aaron was warned away from her by Paul after he lashed out at him over the pressure of caring for his alcoholic dad.

Fans are now worried for Summer, who lives with the eating disorder diabulimia, when someone reduces or stops taking their insulin to lose weight. Summer was diagnosed with type one diabetes last year.

She has been through a harrowing time on the soap while battling with her health and pressure to pass her A levels exams to get into Oxford University. After failing English for cheating, she decided not to go to university and to get a job at the Underworld factory instead.

This summer she collapsed, causing the couple to miss their holiday, and Aaron was shocked to learn that she had been playing a dangerous game by skipping her insulin to control her weight. A nurse suggested a flash monitor might be helpful - a sensor worn on the body to let people check blood sugar levels without having to prick their fingers - but Summer lied to Billy that she didn't qualify.
