Shoppers evacuated from The Trafford Centre

Shoppers were evacuated from The Trafford Centre this afternoon after the alarm was triggered by 'dust'.

People were asked to leave the shopping centre as a 'zonal evacuation' was carried out. Visitors were allowed back inside within around 10 minutes, a spokesperson for The Trafford Centre said.

In a statement, the spokesperson said: "We can confirm that the zonal evacuation in Trafford Centre today was triggered by dust from a shop-fit setting off an alarm. The zone was quickly cleared and we’d like to thank all visitors and staff for their co-operation and swift response.

"The whole situation was resolved within 10 minutes and it is now business as usual in the centre."
