Superdrug is opening huge 'mega stores' this year - full list of locations including the Trafford Centre

High street giant Superdrug, which rivals health and beauty retailers like Boots, Sephora and Debenhams beauty hall, has announced plans to open more stores across the country. A grand total of 25 new Superdrug stores has been announced.

One of the bigger 'best in class' stores is planned to open in Manchester's Trafford Centre. The date for this is yet to be confirmed.

It is estimated that 25 new stores will equate to 570 jobs in the UK. The investment in the new stores is part of its “Online + Offline” platform strategy with the bigger Superdrug stores focusing on "enhancing the physical shopping experience".

The investment has already helped the retailer open up a handful of stores already this year. In February, the chain opened up a new store in Washington Shopping Centre in Washington, Falkirk Retail Park and Braehead in Scotland.

A further three "best-in-class" Superdrug stores are to open in Dublin Dundrum, Manchester Trafford Centre and London Brent Cross in the coming few months.

As well as opening new stores, Superdrug will also "refit" 70 other sites throughout 2023 to update and "modernise" the business. Updates that stores will see include new shop fronts, fully recyclable and updated signage, improved flooring and ceiling tiles made from bio-soluble mineral wool, clay and starch, energy-efficient LED lighting, and new floor layouts.

The retailer confirmed that the new openings and their refits will all be a part of "Superdrug's Sustainable Store Scheme". This scheme aims to make its sites "as eco-conscious as possible" in everything from design to energy saving and waste management.
