Shock jocks claim it's stupid Celtic are allowed in Champions League and they are present every rival wants to open

English shock jocks Jamie O’Hara and Jason Cundy claim Celtic competing in the Champions League has now become a pointless exercise after their Atletico Madrid annihilation as they ripped apart the Hoops’ top level Euro credentials.

Brendan Rodgers watched his side mauled in the Metropolitano Stadium as they remain rock bottom of Group E with just one point from four games. talkSPORT radio show hosts O’Hara and Cundy, who both played in England’s top flight during their careers, compared the gulf to newly-promoted Premier League teams south of the border struggling to cope against the big boys.

And the pair asked whether Celtic would be better off in the Europa League or Conference League, pointing to West Ham’s success in the latter UEFA tournament and bitter rivals Rangers reaching the final of the former a couple of years ago. O’Hara said: “Celtic got beat 6-0 by Atletico Madrid. They are bottom of their group on one point and haven’t kept a clean sheet in the Champions League, home or away, in 35 games.

“It’s pretty pathetic viewing for Celtic fans. Is there any point in them even being in the Champions League? Do they need to just go through the qualifying system and qualify for it because they end up just getting knocked out, finishing bottom and they’re out of Europe before Christmas.

“I know they get money for the Champions League but look at Rangers in the Europa League - they had a brilliant run, it was great fun. I know it’s about money but they aren’t improving. Where are they going? They aren’t getting better. It’s the same old, same old. They haven’t qualified for the knockout stage since 2012. Is it getting a little bit stupid now. Celtic are a big club but not good enough for the Champions League.
