Sheffield Wednesday still considering deal for 30-year-old Birmingham City man
Sheffield Wednesday will want to try and get back into those League One promotion places next season – and they might start their transfer window off with a swoop for Harlee Dean this summer.
As reported by Yorkshire Live, the club are believed to still be keen to sign the player again during this offseason and an offer could be made for the player by the Owls during the window.
The 30-year-old could certainly be available during the summer because of the fact he isn’t a guaranteed option at the Blues as things stand. He spent some of last season on loan at Hillsborough and it suggests he might not necessarily be in his parent club’s plans.
He managed a total of seven league games during his time with Wednesday and must have impressed a few at the club with his workrate and ability, as it appears they want a reunion with the player this summer.
Prior to that, the defender spent eight seasons in the Championship – so has plenty of experience of second tier football and that could help the Owls massively in the third tier as they gun for promotion. With nearly 300 games to his name when it comes to second division football, he could be a real asset a league lower.
Wednesday then could still bring him back to Hillsborough yet – and a move to re-add him to their backline hasn’t been ruled out and could certainly be on the cards again for the player and club during this summer transfer window.
The Verdict
Harlee Dean only managed a handful of games for Sheffield Wednesday during his short-term deal with the side but he clearly made quite the impression to prompt the side to want to bring him back.
The Owls are a club that want to be on the up and will want to be within the play-off spots at the very least again next season.
