Sheffield Wednesday manager Darren Moore provides fitness update ahead of Fleetwood clash

Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore has revealed a number of players are in contention to return to the match day squad ahead of Tuesday night's clash with Fleetwood Town. Wednesday lost out to Wycombe Wanderers at the weekend, falling to a 1-0 defeat that saw the latter leap frog them into the League One play-off places leaving Moore’s men in seventh.

With a game in hand on both Wycombe and Plymouth who sit directly above Moore’s side, Wednesday control their play-off destiny, knowing that two wins from their final two games would see them finish in the play-off places. And ahead of their Tuesday night crunch match against Fleetwood Town, Moore has provided a fitness update about where his squad is at currently.

“Jack Hunt was rested against Wycombe because there’s a lot of games,” explained Moore. "He’ll come back into contention for Tuesday and we’ll get ready again.

“Lewis Gibson missed out against Wycombe because of the five loans rule and that’s the first time this season that’s happened – I had to concentrate on that one to make sure we didn’t put him down as a sixth one so that was the only reason he missed out.

“He’s fine, Jack Hunt will be find so they’ll both be in contention for Fleetwood on Tuesday.”

Wednesday’s trip to Fleetwood could see Moore’s side bolstered by the return of talismanic forward Josh Windass, who recently returned to full training following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Moore said: “We’ll probably have a look at Josh Windass and see. He’s been in and around training so we’ll see where he’s at. Josh won’t start but we’ll have a look in terms of contention for the squad.
